Hey hey ladies! This is post is all about living the PennyDonna Life and knowing how to look great on a budget! I have come up with 5 basic steps to manage your look without breaking the bank. Join me on this journey!
Step 1: Inspect Your Inventory
Take yourself into your closet and see what you already have! You may not need as much as you think to put together a new outfit. Be sure to look for your basics that you can possibly spruce up with a statement piece. Camis, t shirts, & jeans are simple but when you go out and buy a new blazer and a pair of shoes on sale, you've added pizazz! Also look and see if you have a pair of shoes you want to play off of. Maybe you have a pair of cute teal heels and not enough outfits to wear with them. And lastly be sure to check out your accessories. It is so easy to go into a store and trick yourself into believing you have to have this necklace to go with the new dress. You probably have something similar at home already. Remember a prepared mind is a budget conscience mind! Make mental notes of what you have in stock before you head out there door. You've probably just save a few dollars!
Step 2: Know Where To Shop
This is so important! Women everywhere will typically grab their keys and head to the mall. 3 hours later, they come out with just a shirt because mall stores are expensive! There are a few stores in the mall I'd recommend but here are a few stores that you'll have more room to walk in and come out with more bang for your buck!
*Be careful with Forever 21 ladies! Yes they have cute clothes and yes they are inexpensive but sometimes you get what you pay for. Stay away from the everyday clothing in here because in my opinion, they shrink, tear up, or are see through. Forever 21 is a great place to go find a cheap date night dress or clubbing outfit as well as accessories! Remember to shop smart!
**H&M is a lovely store with decent quality clothes. Some of their pieces can be a tad expensive. My rule here is to buy statement pieces here. Maybe a dress or a blazer that makes your outfit at home pop!
Step 3: Shop for Your Body Type
I don't care how tall, short, big, or skinny you are. KNOW THAT YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! With that said...KNOW YOUR BODY TYPE! This is so crucial ladies. Everything doesn't work for everybody. I am a prime example of this. I used to be fairly skinny. All I had were ta tas! lol. Now I am 30 pounds heavier with ta tas and a booty! So I can no longer wear my tight short little dresses. It doesn't fit my body type now. So when you're in the stores shopping for a new outfit, be sure to find pieces that are going to compliment your shape. This will save you time and possibly money. I can't tell you how many things I've bought and never wear because it wasn't right for me. Find out your body shape here
Step 4: Hair Tutorials
Our hair can be an expensive thing to keep up, especially if you're paying someone else to do it. Trips to the salon regularly can drain your wallet. One way to save money on your hair is to do it yourself. ____pause for screams___ lol. Hair DIY is going to save you a lot if you're a regular in the beauty shop. Luckily enough for our generation, we have youtube which has countless tutorials for all kinds of hair styles. Do your research well before you need to have your hair done and practice, practice, PRACTICE! Do not wait until minutes before you need to make an appearance to try a new tutorial! Step 5: Simple Makeup
This is for our drugstore makeup ladies. Let's face it...it's not the best makeup in the world. It's not department store or fancy Mac or Sephora so let's act accordingly. If you can only afford the cheaper stuff, keep it simple. Don't try and overdue your face with these products because the end result will not look as nice as you'd like (especially if there's flash photography lol). Do a little a concealer, an even coat of foundation, eyeliner, mascara, and pop on some lipstick and head out the door. Makeup Tutorials on Youtube are great too. Just be conscious of your quality of makeup!
